Maxine @ Two

Another year has raced by.  My baby is now two and doesn't want to be a baby.
She shows more personality and opinion with each passing day!

Max,
Here is what you are up to:

-you make me sing (in my off key, tone-deaf way) to you every night before you go to bed.  your favorites are "Round & Round" (aka the wheels on the bus), the "E, F, G" (aka the abc song), and the Itsy Bitsy Spider (I only know this when you speak and use your hands to show me the spider motion).

-you have lots of opinions....
-like the clothes and shoes you wear
-the food you eat (Nutrigrain"bars" only - just like your brother!  you also love all cheese.)
-the cups you drink out of (soft spout for milk, hard spout for water)
-the temperature of your milk - 30 seconds in the microwave is perfect.

-you like your brother a ton.....when you like him.  you don't when you don't.  make sense?

-you have learned to tell us "Now!"  we don't care for it much.

-you love to play on the "pah-pad" (aka iPad).  you know your way around it all too well.  thank goodness for passwords!

-your hair is getting so long.  you allow me to fix it in the mornings, but you determine the hair bow that we use, even when I try to trick you.

-you like your new school after a long adjustment period.  just as soon as you got used to it, you turned 2 and had to change classrooms.  Ms. Chris is still your favorite!  she tells me that you stand at the fence and yell to her across the playground....and then you stand on the top of the slide and yell to her.  you call her "Piss."

-on that note, you are so SMART!  you are always watching, and soaking it all in.  you amaze dad & me.

-you are so sweet too!  you give kisses when someone is hurt.   you even kiss your "bee-uck (blanket) when you get your hands on it at bedtime or in the morning when you get out of bed.

-we were anxious to put your brother in a big boy bed at 2 years.  you, however, we are savoring your baby-ness.  you don't mind your crib.  so, we are going to keep you in it until you turn 13, i think.

-you love baby dolls. you keep your giant baby close most of the time. she has even gone out and about with us. you were mad at me when you had to ride in your cars seat-- you felt strongly that she should have been strapped in to it.

There is so much more "to" you.  You are an amazing little lady.  You keep us all entertained every day.  I love your strong will and want you to never change!  You will take wonderful care of yourself!  We are so very lucky to be your family.  Thanks for keeping it lively around here.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl.

Independence Day

We spent our Independence Day poolside with friends and family;
barbequing, sipping cocktails, learning to swim underwater, napping, and churning homemade ice cream....what's more American?  It was a great day....
all natural sunscreen is weird....pardon the white sunscreen boogers on this cute face.

this guy decided that this was the day he would learn to swim under water.  and.  he.  did.

Max wasn't a fan of the pool in her early days.  I predict (and hope) that this will change!
Happy Daddy: sunshine, relaxation, and beverages.

Poolside nap
My lovies, snoozing during the afternoon storm.

More Lovies snoozing:  they sleep like this b/c they aren't married yet.  ;-)

Derek's yummeriffic homemade ice cream

Max giving George (Or "Woody" [from Toy Story} as Cole calls him) the stank-eye while Aunt Sta protects her.
Now that Spring seems to be springing, I look forward to many days 'round the pool!  C'mon Summer!

the County Fair

I have heard about the Monroe County Fair for years. I've known people who compete in things there....like the rodeos and horse shows. Not my normal scene, but Jayjay and I decided to brave the sweltering heat to check out the Fair, since we Albrachts are legit Monroe County residents.

Luckily our buddy, Corbin was at the Fair too.  We got to hang out with him while his momma finished up some work stuff.
These two took rides pretty serious.  And had some serious fun!
Max and I swapped sweat.  Then Jayjay and Max swapped sweat while I let sweat trickle down my legs.  And then we switched back so Jayjay's sweat could soak through her shirt. Switch and repeat...
Jayjay and I decied that the Lemonade shake-up that we had been longing for (that may have even been part of the reason we went to the fair) would help us to beat the heat.

Fail.

Worst. Lemonade-shake-up.  Ever.
Round two on the space ship was more fun.
Max took it all in.  Give it a few years, baby girl....
The boys were so cute.  We had wristbands....aka a VIP pass for the County Fair.  These boys were free to roam and play!  (with us dragging behind and leaving a trail of sweat).
Cole was so brave!  He climbed the stairs to slide down the GIANT SLIDE!
Woah....it's a biggun.
Hey Corbin!
These boys are two of my favorite. So handsome.  Can't wait to see them grow up and I hope they'll always be buddies...maybe even soul mates like thier mamas!
It wore us all out.  We trudged around, sweaty messes, until we were completely worn out.

See ya next year, Fair!

Moody Maxine

Sometimes, people don't believe me when I say that Maxine is a diva. The following photos were taken in a approximately 1 minute a while back.  Watch for the mood swings.....

fixated on either a tiny speck in the carpet or Phoebe.
"hmmmm, what's up there?"
"oh hey mom, what's up?"
"I'M NOT HAPPY!"
"Oh what...did I say something?"
"Don't look at me.  I'm having a chubby day.  This diaper does nothing for my muffin top."
"Hi Mom!"
"oooohh, my feet."
"WTH you lookin' at?!"
"AAAAAHHHHH!"
"WHAAAA!"
"BWHAAAAAA!"
"Does my hair look okay?"
"Oh gosh, I just feel awful."
"Hi Phoebe!"
"BAAAAAHHHH!"

No joke.  These photos were taken in this order....in one minute.
Please say a prayer for us during her hormonal teenage years....
Good thing she is SO darn cute!

happenings....

There just isn't much time for blogging these days but I look forward to catching things up around here.  In the meantime, here's a snippet of what we've been up to...
 playing with family in Jamaica,
 Schroedeling,
 trying some foods,
 playing with friends,
and growing up (too quickly)!

Cheeks

It just so happens that these cheeks, all four of them, are perfect places to smoosh my nose into.

A Delicate Flower, She is Not.

 Maxine's Two Month Check-up:
Length: 23.75 inches
Weight: 13 lb, 8 oz
That would be 98th percentile for height.
 98th percentile for weight.
because a petite lady would not fit into our family.
