Meet Sissy (Carolee) & Gerald. These are two of my favorite people in the world. They are kind, generous, thoughtful, and wonderful humans. Sissy and Gerald are my ex-step-aunt & uncle family.
Each summer from the time I was around nine or ten years old, Sissy and Gerald invited me along with Courtney, Hunter, Drew, and Jamie (after she was potty trained :)) to stay with them for a week. The weeks spent with Sissy and Gerald were so wonderful. There was no expense of time, energy, money, or love spared in these weeks. We were endlessly entertained: Jeckyl Island, waterparks, Braves games, Stone Mountain, and on and on.... Sissy and Gerald's neighbor, Kelli was a wonderful addition to our times there. We spent most of the week there together and then remained penpals through the rest of most year.
When my mom and Theo (Sissy's brother) divorced things could have changed. However, Sissy and Gerald have continued to treat me as family. I stayed with them at times when I lived in Georgia and attended UGA.
A few hours out of the way en route to Ft. Morgan, AL we stopped in for a visit with Sissy and Gerald. It was a great visit with wonderful people, and it was a sentimental flood of positive, loving memories for me.
Kelli brought her daughters for a visit. You really took to Hayden and we enjoyed her entertaining ways!
I am so grateful for this trip, my memories, and mostly for people in the world who love freely and openly. Thank God for Sissy and Gerald.
