My man...

...is a good man,

(assisting our 95+ year old neighbor who gives lots of 'feedback')
...a REAL good man!
I love you, Derek!  You are a good man; a good caretaker for Cole, for me, and for those around you!

one more year in my twenties...

For my birthday this year I wanted to 'do' the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail.  Verdict - Awesome!  Best Birthday Ever!  I am not sure it was the wine or the 'trail' so much as the company!  maybe the wine had something to do with it too.

Derek and I took Cole to Grandma and Grandpa B'meyer's house Saturday morning.  I hear he had fun fishing and playing with his uncles.  We then hurried to Ferne Clyffe State Park where Ed, Mom, and Jamie joined us....just in time to help set up our tent.  As this was our first camping trip and we are not-so-good at not stressing doing some thing for the first time....we needed a little help when they arrived!  :)  The tent got set up.

We started out our trip at Blue Sky Winery.  It was a lovely setting but very cold for mid May!  I can't wait to go again on a warmer day!  Erica and Todd joined us for a few tastes, snacks, and photos!

Our second stop was Kite Hill Vineyards.  This was a small tasting room with a little deck on a little pond.  Small, fairly new winery but great wine.  Good conversation, good wine, good food, and good friends  - what more could a girl ask for on her birthday!?

Our third stop was StarView Vineyards.  I look so fresh and new in these photos because Jamie was using 'grease wipes' and doing my makeup in the cruiser on the way.  The ride between wineries was an adventure!  Mom drives the cruiser like it's a race car.  On those Southern Illinois backroads, no less!  Good times!

The last stop on our journey was Rustle Hill Winery. There was a live band.  We socialized and enjoyed the view, music, and wine.

I can't wait to turn 30 so I can do it all over again!!!

Headwound

Massive Headwould Harry Cole...

After a little tumble at Target when Cole's head found a sharp edge of the cart, we ended up at the Cardinal Glennon ER.  The massive bleeding stopped, the docs were able to glue the hole in his head back together.  A long and frightening night for this mama!
